Taking Care of Your Skin after the Summer
The summer months have come and gone, and it’s time to say goodbye to days in the sun. Chances are, you did your best protecting your skin with lots of sunscreen, hydration, and rest. But when you look in the mirror, you see some visible signs of skin damage anyway: dry and dehydrated skin; some new fine lines and wrinkles; maybe some new freckles and sunspots on your nose and cheeks that weren’t there before. Why did this happen, you ask. What to do?
Research shows that up to 80 percent of all visible skin damage is due to direct exposure to the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays – not the effect of natural aging on our skin – so protecting your skin against the sun is really important!
When the summer is over, give your skin some extra pampering and try to undo as much of this damage as possible. You can do this with skin care products with high vitamin, high antioxidant properties that act from within, as well as on the surface of your skin – helping repair skin cells and bringing your skin back to a brighter, natural glow.
Post-summer skin care with Gluta-C
When it comes to post-summer skin care, Gluta-C is an expert. Here’s what you can do to help your skin recover from the effects of the sun.
Moisturize with body lotion
Moisturizing daily is the simplest but most important thing you can do for your skin. Dry, cracked skin creates openings for harmful bacteria to come into the body, irritating skin or causing an infection. Get your skin back in prime condition with a whitening body lotion that also deeply nourishes and hydrates the skin.
In the summer, you help your skin recapture its old, natural state when you up the amount of moisturizer you apply daily. Do this as soon as you’re back from a trip or were out in the sun all day.
Exfoliate using a body scrub
Exfoliating is a gentle yet effective way of stimulating blood circulation and encouraging the process of skin cell regeneration. Use a whitening body scrub that’s full of antioxidants, like Vitamin C, glutathione, and natural fruit acids like papaya enzyme. These will serve to boost your skin’s appearance. Skin that’s been freshly exfoliated also absorbs lotion and moisturizer better.
You can use a body scrub a few times a week. They’re the perfect product for giving your body the equivalent of a facial and rewarding you with softer, smoother skin.
Always Use Toner
Facial toner should be used by all, regardless of your skin condition – including skin that’s oily or combination-type.
The best kind of toner is alcohol-free, without harsh ingredients or skin irritants. Toner helps cleanse skin and whiten problem areas with sunspots and blemishes – and works hard to control oil and moisturize the skin.
Get into the habit of using toner after cleansing. It makes all the difference, especially with minimizing pores, reducing pimples, and preventing skin breakouts.
Wear Day Cream with SPF
After cleansing, toning, and moisturizing skin, don’t forget to put on a facial day cream that’s got sunscreen with a minimum sun protection factor (SPF) of 25. You’ll protect your skin against the sun and the elements. Our skin, especially on our face, needs protection against UV rays every day of the year, rain or shine – not just during the summer.
Look for a day cream for the face that’s got extra vitamins and nutrients, like vitamins C and E, and nourishing moisturizing ingredients such as shea butter.
Use Night Repair Serum
Tired, dry skin needs a product that helps your skin heal and regenerate while you sleep. Use a serum after cleansing and toning and right before your evening moisturizer, which must be applied on the neck as well as the face. If you worry about skin tone and loss of elasticity, facial night serum is the one to address it; it helps repair and whiten skin at night, when cell renewal is at its peak.
You’ll see the difference in the morning: skin will look firmer and brighter and younger.
Make these products part of your beauty skin maintenance routine to keep your skin looking at its best, especially when next summer comes around!
